MESSAGE FROM UCF LIBRARIES: PLEASE COMPLETE THE ITHAKA FACULTY SURVEY
Please help the UCF Libraries collect important information that will help us serve your needs. Your response to the Ithaka survey will help the UCF Libraries design or improve services for faculty scholars and researchers, and make decisions about library collections, developing an approach to supporting faculty in a changing environment. The survey examines some broad strategic issues, such as ways that scholars discover and access scholarly materials, the evolving role of the library and its collections, and research practices. This information, and the opportunity to compare UCF to a cohort of participating research institutions, will be invaluable as the Libraries plan for the future. Our sincere thanks to those who have completed the survey. More information? Contact Meg Scharf firstname.lastname@example.org, Michael Arthur Michael.Arthur@ucf.edu and/or Richard Harrison Richard.Harrison@ucf.edu . MESSAGE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL SERVICES CENTER: FACULTY ASSISTANCE NEEDED
Help needed: UCF hosts two Florida Linkage Institutes (Florida-Canada & Florida-Eastern Europe) that offer qualified applicants tuition waiver awards every year. We are currently seeking faculty volunteers to assist with selecting qualified candidates for these tuition waiver awards. This commitment would involve being part of a faculty committee for either Linkage Institute and helping to review a select number of applicant essays during our next round of applications for the coming year. The application deadline for both Institutes is April 30th for awards to be distributed for the Fall 2014/Spring 2015 terms. More information about the Linkage Institutes can be found here (fcli.intl.ucf.edu & eeli.intl.ucf.edu). Please contact Mark Hartman, Director FCLI & EELI (email@example.com) if you would like to offer assistance or for additional information.
FACULTY WRITING CLUB SPRING 2014
Join a faculty writing club to focus on productivity and camaraderie. Having trouble getting into a good writing rhythm? Need to get away from your office to get a change of perspective and a little privacy? Forget the coffee shop--join your colleagues on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in FCTL for a loosely structured writing session. We'll take five or six minutes each week to go around the room and state a goal for the time block and then spend the rest of the time working on our individual projects. Bring your own laptop or use an FCTL computer. And of course there will be coffee. Everyone is welcome!
