Below you’ll find information about activities at the Faculty Center and beyond. As you may already know, UCF will soon transition to a single user name and password system for all of our various online systems. That process will happen over the July 4th weekend. Naturally a change this significant (and awesome) will have some temporary implications for our access to web-based services, including Canvas. See the end of this email for a message from the Center for Distributed Learning about this process and how it may affect you.

SPECIAL EVENT JUNE 27: DISCUSSION OF NOT ALONE, THE FIRST REPORT OF THE WHITE HOUSE TASK FORCE TO PROTECT STUDENTS FROM SEXUAL ASSAULT
We have a few spots available for a special event that will be hosted by the Faculty Center on June 27 at noon. UCF’s own Vice President for Student Development and Enrollment Services (SDES), Maribeth Ehasz, was part of the team that put together Not Alone: The First Report of the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault, which was released in April of this year and can be accessed at this URL: http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/docs/report_0.pdf. Dr. Ehasz will be joined by Associate Vice President for SDES Patti MacKown, Director of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Maria Beckman, and Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer Rhonda Bishop in a discussion with faculty about the evolution of this task force and report and about the issue of sexual assault on campuses, including UCF. Lunch will be provided, and to facilitate conversation attendance will be limited to 20. Please RSVP by emailing email@example.com if you’d like to join us.
INFORMATION FROM CDL ON SINGLE LOGIN CREDENTIAL PROCESS
As you may be aware, UCF is transitioning to a single login credential to access University systems and services. Beginning in July, users will enter their NID to access all enterprise systems at UCF. This means the login and password used to access the myUCF portal and Webcourses@UCF will now be the same login and password you use for Wi-Fi, computer labs and desktop computers (if you are part of the NET domain). Beginning 6:00 AM Friday July 4 through 7:00 AM Monday July 7 the following major systems will be unavailable while we convert them to use the NID login credential:
FACULTY WRITING CLUB SUMMER 2014
Join a faculty writing club to focus on productivity and camaraderie. Having trouble getting into a good writing rhythm? Need to get away from your office to get a change of perspective and a little privacy? Forget the coffee shop--join your colleagues on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in FCTL for a loosely structured writing session. We'll take five or six minutes each week to go around the room and state a goal for the time block and then spend the rest of the time working on our individual projects. Bring your own laptop or use an FCTL computer. And of course there will be coffee. Everyone is welcome!
