ADOBE SYSTEMS INFORMATION SESSION THIS WEDNESDAY
During this meeting, Adobe representatives will lead conversations about the Adobe Creative Cloud, including desktop, mobile, and web possibilities. They will also inform us about resources for community, teaching, learning, and certifications, and will describe some classroom and virtual practices that are being employed on other campuses. COACHE SURVEY FOLLOW UP EFFORTS
During spring of 2015, UCF faculty were asked to complete the COACHE survey, a faculty job satisfaction survey. In the fall 2015 semester, the COACHE Priority Setting Committee reviewed the UCF COACHE data/results and determined five priority areas for improvement:Appreciation and Recognition, Departmental Leadership, Nature of Work, Personal and Family Policies, and Promotion. During spring 2016, faculty were recruited to participate on subcommittees for each of the five areas and charged with proposing strategies that will strengthen the respective area. We need your help! SIGN UP NOW FOR SUMMER FACULTY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
This summer the Faculty Center will host two special events to support teaching and learning and to promote scholarship of teaching and learning. The dates are June 10th and July 15th and times are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the first 30 registrants. Plans for June 10th include a student panel on diversity in the classroom, a workshop on designing active learning space, and an introductory SoTL workshop. The July 15th event will feature Dr. Mary Ann Winkelmes from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, who will offer a workshop called “The Unwritten Rules of College: Transparency and Its Impact on Learning.” This event will provide a follow-up to our Winter Conference transparency theme. WEBCOURSES QUIZ EXTENSIONS
CDL has developed a Webcourses@UCF integration called Quiz Extensions. This integration provides one place to give students extra time to all existing quizzes/exams. Quiz Extensions is available in all Webcourses@UCF courses; however, it has to be added to the course menu. FACULTY WRITING CLUB SUMMER 2016
Join a faculty writing club to start your summer off with a focus on productivity and camaraderie. Having trouble getting into a good writing rhythm? Need to get away from your office to get a change of perspective and a little privacy? Forget the coffee shop—join your colleagues on Thursday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in FCTL for a loosely structured writing session. We'll take five or six minutes each week to go around the room and state a goal for the time block and then spend the rest of the time working on our individual projects. Bring your own laptop or use an FCTL computer. And of course there will be coffee. Everyone is welcome!
