In addition to local UCF policies and regulations, there are a few laws in the State of Florida you should know about:
- Sunshine Law (Chapter 286 of FL Statutes). In this law, many members of society can request a Public Records disclosure. Emails are subject to this law.
- HB233 (2021). This law authorizes a student to record video or audio of class lectures for personal educational use, in connection with a complaint to the public institution of higher education where the recording was made, or as evidence in, or in preparation for, a criminal or civil proceeding.
Please also refer to the Faculty Center’s Guide to Teaching at UCF book and “Critical University Policies” document. Both are maintained throughout the year and are published annually for New Faculty Orientation.
