New full-time faculty members at UCF participate in two required orientations, each having very different purposes. One is the New Employee Benefits and Payroll Orientation, at which you will complete the paperwork necessary for this very important area. The other is the Provost’s Academic Orientation, at which you will learn about various policies and procedures (including Tenure and Promotion) impacting your various roles as members of the UCF Faculty.
The New Faculty Academic Orientation
The two-day Academic Orientation serves several purposes related to promoting faculty success. It provides new faculty members with information about policies and procedures that will directly impact their work in and beyond the classroom, offers participants opportunities to connect with new colleagues and campus leaders, and presents attendees with a preview of the many kinds of professional development resources and opportunities available to them throughout the year. The event takes place during the week before the fall semester in the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center and other buildings on the main campus and includes complimentary breakfast and lunch events on both days. See our teaching support page for information and resources to help prepare for teaching at UCF.
