Excellence in Teaching (EIT) is our single-semester “deep dive” into best practices in teaching. We explore the current thinking about the science of learning, integrated course design, assessment and feedback, teaching methods, classroom management, and professional development. Participants have the opportunity to share with colleagues your wisdom and experiences with these topics.

The program lasts 12 weeks with 6 biweekly, in-person meetings. For those wishing to take a deeper dive into the topics, we will provide an online webcourse and the opportunity to participate in a teaching square (peer observation of teaching).

The meetings are scheduled for two hours (11am-1pm) and include lunch (pizza and salad) provided by the Faculty Center (we will continue our presentation/discussions during lunch).

Spring 2025 registration is open. Please sign up at https://ucf.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_819pFX0uNCFjyia.

Knighted Faculty Program (2021-2024)

The Knighted Faculty Program was a two-semester-long cohort (Fall and Spring) designed to provide interested faculty members with more in-depth training in the science of learning, integrated course design, assessment and feedback, teaching methods,  and classroom management. The program ran from 2021 to 2024, when it was replaced by Excellence in Teaching.

The program included an asynchronous online course, participation in semester-long Teaching Squares (peer observations), monthly zoom meetings, and an in-person Knighting ceremony. The final deliverable was a new or significantly upgraded learning module and a revised teaching statement, both reflecting an advanced understanding of program principles. Participants committed to attending three meetings each semester via Zoom.

These are the faculty who completed KFP.
